General FAQ’s about the Electric Fence System
Is Hidden Dog Fence Company associated with Invisible Fence®, Petsafe®, Dogwatch®, DogGuard® or any other brand of electronic, underground pet fencing other than Pet Stop®?
No, Hidden Dog Fence Company is an authorized Pet Stop® dealer and is not associated with any of the aforementioned companies, though we may perform independent service on Invisible Fence® systems and other brands.
Can I use a hidden electric fence to contain an aggressive dog?
No, we will not install an electric fence system for an aggressive dog unless it’s going to be used alongside an existing wooden or chain-link fence. We don’t recommend using this kind of correction on an aggressive dog – ask your veterinarian for alternative training options.
Does this fence system work for cats as well?
Yes, cats can be trained to the
fence – our indoor pet containment solutions are particularly useful for maintaining cat-free zones inside your home.
Dog Fence System Training FAQ’s
What size or age does my dog have to be before they can be trained to the fence?
We train dog breeds of all shapes and sizes to the fence, and we recommend your pet be at least 8 weeks old before training begins. Your pet should also be comfortable with their home environment.
How long does it take to train pets to the fence?
Most pets learn their new boundaries in about 2 weeks.
Will the correction harm my pet in any way?
The correction used is quite safe and harmless – there is more energy produced by a carpet’s static shock than there is in a correction – we use just enough to tickle or startle the dog, not shock.
Electric Pet Fencing Products FAQ’s
How often will the batteries need to be replaced?
Battery life depends on how often your pet challenges the fence – most batteries last between 3 months to a year. When they need to be replaced, the receiver collar’s Flash Alert® low battery light will let you know.
